The Daily Life of the Immortal King Season 1 Recap If you have had a hard time following the story, let us decode the final moments. ![]() The ending of the story broadens the spectrum while keeps one craving for more, as we get some glimpse into Wang Ling’s true abilities. But little did he know, that he would have to face a grave threat in the high school years. As he knows the repercussions of his magnanimous powers, he chooses to keep a low profile. I get stuff like that has to be slow enough to be interesting, but maybe they shouldnt have had the limit be 100% for the counts then.Set in the fictional country of Huaxiu, the birthplace of Scientific Cultivation, the story follows a mysterious boy named Wang Ling, who possesses potentially infinite spiritual prowess to destroy the entire world. And there's a competition in it with a thing that counts up at increasing speeds depending on how many 'alters' are captured, but the counting up doesn't seem to increase when it's meant to, and slows down for the sake of it, and there are alters captured even though they clearly shouldnt be because all the characters are clearly accounted for. Overall, it feels like the tried to do a different version of The Disastrous Life Of Saiki K but looked at every aspect of that show which was good, then made made a worse showing of it.Įven the plot doesn't seem to make sense at times with random fights that vaguely seem like they're meant to be serious happening in front of teachers, who just watch for a bit before stepping in (even if someone's arm was taken off, but it was fixed 2 seconds later so its fine I guess). The anime itself feels like it jumps around a lot on whether it wants to focus more on being serious/action-packed or if it wants to be a comedy with cartoon-like effects that mightve been found on Looney Tunes (i.e a serious meeting was taking place then one of the characters was in a big ball of violence/ fight cloud with body guards who had wrapped her up in cloth to carry her away, yet no one batted an eye at it, even when she escaped 10 seconds later. I think the show started off looking really nice and seeming decent, but the more you watch, the worse it gets. If you have cut out half of original story arc for whatever reason, you should just realize it's not a proper source material to make an anime with. Not sure why this became an anime to begin with. You'd think that now you don't have cut out half of source plot, they can write a comprehensible story, right? Nope, it's somehow even worse and make less sense. And to make things even worse, around episode 8 or so, it completely diverged from source material and starting making it's own story. After cutting bunch of stuff out, story was then stitched together in a messy way that it makes absolutely no sense. Most of meme and reference were cut out (legal reasons?) and these were actually the soul of what made original web novel interesting. But the anime is nothing like the source material. In fact, most of source material was kind of joke of what's popular at the time, but somewhat tying that to the overarching plot, which made things interesting. The source material was actually fairly entertaining and popular because it was makes a lot over the top reference of real world people, events and memes. What makes this 3/10 is very simple - it's just bad. Some say it's a rip off of Saiki K, but that's least of the problem because this kind of OP protagonist trope has been super common in light/web novel scene for a while now and Saiki K itself was a late comer to that trend. It's based on a web novel with OP protagonist trope.
